How easy is it to send bulk SMS from a PC?

It's as easy as one, two, three!

Enterprise SMS messaging has become a staple for businesses to communicate. These days, SMS is vital to everyday business functions such as reminders, marketing campaigns, logistics, and appointment scheduling. Most companies can't live without it. It's simple—tackle both internal communications with staff, contractors and partners, and external communications with customers, clients, and stakeholders all by using a bulk text messaging web platform.

SMS is versatile, concise, and lands directly in the recipient's hand(set). Don't believe me? Maybe the statistics will convince you.

There is a 98% open-rate for SMS, with 90% of those messages read within the first three minutes of receiving it. That is the essence of direct communication—seeing, opening, and reading a message within the first three minutes.

Not only that, Facebook recently published statistics on holiday shopper trends and habits. 2018 saw 20 billion messages between individuals and businesses recorded on Facebook Messenger. The study also found that 65% of shoppers prefer spending with companies they can message directly. Businesses and customers value direct communication provided by messaging, why not take advantage of that with cost-effective SMS?

Imagine reaching tens, hundreds, thousands, with just the click of a mouse. With a robust SMS gateway, you can.

Schedule messages, automate keywords and trigger responses, organize contacts into groups, and provide online security with 2FA (Two Factor Authentication).

Here's how. Follow this step-by-step process on how to send SMS from your PC:

  1. Set up your bulk SMS gateway
  2. Input your contacts
  3. Formulate your message

1. Set up your bulk SMS gateway

Sign up to an SMS aggregator that suits your needs. Set up your account, and any adjoining parent or child accounts. Don't forget to set up your virtual number(s) or Sender ID.

SMSGlobal's MXT platform provides new users a free trial, including access to our intuitive web platform, Knowledgebase and downloadable assets like eBooks and factsheets. Whether you prefer a web platform, API integration, or Email-To-SMS service, SMSGlobal provides it all.

2. Input your contacts

Now that you have set up your account, next you need to add contacts to send to. Before you upload a contact list, ensure that it is formatted correctly. That means correct country codes for the numbers, for example, numbers from the USA should begin with +1.

Once your contacts are uploaded, you can organize contacts into groups, such as communication preferences or demographics.

3. Compose your message

Before we start sending, ensure you have set up your account correctly and input your contact lists in the proper format.

Now, you are ready to start sending your message. When you enter the 'Send Message' section, you'll notice there might be options on how to send your message. On MXT, the options include 'Send,' 'Merge Send,' and 'Upload Send.'

'Send' - send the message typed in the message box to selected contacts uploaded onto your MXT account.

'Merge Send' - personalize your text message to contacts that have been uploaded to your MXT account, such as addressing recipients by name.

'Upload Send' - send bulk SMS directly to a list of contacts without uploading the contacts to MXT.

Once you've decided how you are going to send your SMS, you select the virtual number or Sender ID you are sending from, choose the contacts you wish to send to, and write your message. Before you hit 'Send,' keep in mind that each SMS has a limit of 160 characters, so composing the perfect message is vital.

Aaaand, send!
